LEX Wearable Display

Studio XO’s technologies are at the cutting the edge of commercial innovation in an emerging wearable technology market. This is due to a highly skilled group of coders, engineers, fashion and product designers working seamlessly to create sensitive material solutions. Beautiful code enables Studio XO’s systems to be unified, synchronized and intuitive where other fashioned technologies tend to be focused on novel electronics. Whilst working on both The Black Eyed Peas (2011) and The JLS (2012) stadium tours Studio XO invented a distinctive fashion animation system synchronized to the stage and driven by the lighting desk. Inspired by the affordances of extraordinary lighting patterns, Studio XO uniquely diffuse the flexible lighting by applying unusual materiality’s enabling the artists more freedom and less bulky hardware. Studio XO’s unique team are able to deliver world leading wearable lighting and animation systems for entertainment, theatre and film to create bespoke dynamic performances for 21st century artists.
The LEX system has a unique interface for content generation, animation and configuration of Studio XO enabled garments. Content can be referenced to still and moving imagery. A unique feature of the LEX software is that it enables operators to make changes to content and garment configurations in real-time at the lighting desk during a show, allowing the performance to alter dynamically to suit the creative content of live events. The LEX system can be purchased as a basic 400 LED matrix designed into a jacket for a fixed fee. Studio XO hire and sell the wireless trigger technologies. We will also custom build animated garments to the specifications determined by the creative direction of the tour and funded via production budgets. So if you have any part of the body you want to make dynamic the LEX system is perfect.
